A Message Pops Up On Your Computer

Would votes have to be suspended for the next couple days? What could be done to correct the past voting days? As Anderson slumped back into his desk chair, a message popped up on his screen and his web page went black.

All that was on the screen was a dialogue box with no sender name. In the box read:

Equal votes do not create equality for all citizens, only socialism has this power.

There was no question now, hackers were skewing election results. Anderson picked up the phone and dialed John Sherman, head of the NCA’s User Tracking Department. One result of a completely public internet was the government’s ability to track each user’s internet activity. Anderson hoped to back-trace the message sent to his computer. Sherman answered without even saying hello:

“I already know what you’re gonna ask. My phone’s been ringing off the hook. The message was sent to every computer in the office. We tried to trace the sender but it led to the name Stafford Beer at an address that doesn’t exist. 989 Ardmore Way, Cleveland OH.” With that he hung up.
